Therapy for Grief and Loss

When you lose a loved one, or have other types of difficult loss, it can be one of the most painful and devastating experiences of your life. Loss can occur due to death or various other ways such as divorce, a breakup, illness, loss of ability, job loss, etc. However your loss has occurred, it can leave you extremely disoriented; sending your life into complete disarray. You feel there is a void in your life that can never be filled again. You could be feeling a range of emotions including numbness, sadness, anger, guilt, blame, shock, confusion, loneliness; even relief. You may cycle through several of these emotions daily.

Beyond your individual emotions, the loss may be affecting many aspects of your life. You might be having a difficult time concentrating; making work, school, and other life responsibilities nearly impossible, if not impossible, to manage. Or perhaps your relationships have become strained due to withdrawal or others’ difficulty responding to your loss. It is common to feel misunderstood in the aftermath of a loss, often causing tension and distance in relationships.

“Grieving is an act of love.”

I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to explore whatever thoughts and feelings arise as you grieve your loved one. Together we will work to process the pain of your loss, adjust to life without your loved one, and find a way to remember your loved one while embarking on the rest of your journey through life.
